ANNOUCEMENT: CPI WIN MONOCHROME PRINT CONTRACT

As some of you are aware, our contract with Norhaven A/S for monochrome trade books expired this year.

In April 2006 we invited five book printers to tender for the new contract. Submissions were scrutinised for price, turnaround times, quality and customer service. After negotiations with a shortlist of three candidates, I am delighted to confirm the appointment of the CPI Group as our new monochrome printer of trade books.

Paperback titles will be printed by CPI Bookmarque in Croydon; hardback titles by CPI Mackays in Chatham. See following for a link to the group website for further information.

Effective 1st October all new titles will be printed by CPI; reprints will switch from Norhaven to CPI during September and October. The transition team in London and Southam are working hard in conjunction with CPI to ensure no interruption of supply.

This new contract is a good result for Scholastic and thanks are due especially to Alan Hurcombe and Michelle O'Brien for their work during the tender process and to the Production, Inventory and Warehousing teams for their efforts over the next few months during the transition process.
